Garden of the Siren by dfbovey Garden of the Siren by dfbovey
My take on the mythological creature, Siren, who uses her beauty and song to lure men at sea to their deaths. I wanted to portray the creature in her den. Showing a contrast between the beauty of her surroundings with the skeletons below showing her true nature.

Done in pencil on 14x17 bristol board.

Hope you dig it. Let me know what you think. :)

Thank you!

Been a while since I've checked in on Polykarbon. Really nice stuff in your gallery as well. Your Riddick piece should have been top 3 IMO.

Much respect for bringing it all the way home with just your pencil. Love the details in this one. I browsed around your gallery and I have to say you have chops. My only critique for this picture would be to use a bit more shading on the siren. She seems a little flat compared to the rest of the picture.

The bones below show this beauty is indeed a beast! Cool looking webbed hands. I like the small fin running down the back of the legs, too. Would've been cool to have seen one of her feet posed to see her webbed toes, too.

A great work. Love the detail. Of course I find someone who can create works like this after I offer work to another artist. Ahhh!
But seriously, I really like this image. I was a classicist in college, and this is a theme straight from my own literature binge reading. Good stuff.

I love her pose. She seems like she's brooding. Your eye immediately catches her, the eel, and the shark. The bones are almost an afterthought. I really like it. :)

You have such a good feel for classical fantasy with a good sense of realism in the work. The eel is such a great part that pops out of the drawing. Only thing I would liked is seeing some sea "debris" and creatures inter mixed in the skeletons.
